Be Still

After that first encounter at the beach, I was so excited the next time I went. As I skated along toward the bench, I was daydreaming about the conversation I was going to have and all of the revelations that would be shown to me.

I finally arrived and took off my cap. I even tilted my body to the side as though I was sitting next to GOD at a coffee shop, ready to shoot the breeze.

Alas, it was quiet.

Nothing.

After I calmed down a bit, and my heart rate dropped, I heard a word.

“Be still.”

Ah yes, be still, I remember that one. At Bible camp they had us go out into a field by ourselves and read that verse.

Also, exactly what I needed. My mind had been spinning out of control for months. The last time GOD said, “I got you” which put me at ease, but I still had a lot of questions, and I came back for answers.

But the answer is that he is GOD. And what a relief that is. I don’t need to get all the answers.

I also realized that GOD was giving me what I needed, not what I was asking for. I was getting one word at a time, which is all I can handle.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
