Everything is Important

One of the classical signs of depression is that you start to question the meaning of things. What is life all about? Does anything we do matter?

These were the ideas I was struggling with.

The message to me on the bench that day was “Everything is Important.” The exact opposite of the dark thoughts I was having.

Why did Jesus become flesh and come to Earth? Why did he decide it was important to live a human life? I don’t completely understand the implications, but I know that is what he did.

Why was I born? What is the importance of my life? I can’t answer that, but I know that God put me here and said that my life is important.

I’ll take his word for it.

What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.
— Psalm 8:4-5 (NIV)
