Discipline

Discipline.

Undisciplined now, feel bad later.

Disciplined now, feel good later.

“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”
— Hebrews 12:11 (NIV)

Shepherd’s Note

Hebrews is honest about discipline: none of it seems pleasant at the time. The verse does not ask you to enjoy the early mornings, the budget, the practice, or the apology. It asks you to look further down the road, to the harvest. Righteousness and peace grow like crops, quietly, after the unglamorous work is done. Be undisciplined now and regret it later, or train now and find peace later. Choose the pain that leads somewhere. The harvest is worth the training.
