Holy Spirit, Talk to Me

Holy Spirit, talk to me, fill me, commune with me, help me breathe.

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
— Romans 8:26 (NIV)

Shepherd's Note

There are prayers a man cannot form, and Paul says the Spirit prays them for him. Wordless groans are not failed prayer; they are prayer's deepest kind, carried by GOD Himself when the man has no words left. Breathing is the right picture here. No one strains to breathe; he simply opens himself and receives, moment by moment. The communion this entry asks for is that kind of closeness, the Spirit helping, filling, and interceding in the weakness a man is honest enough to admit.
